Innehåll

Writing the thesis summary – referred to as the “kappa” in Swedish – is the final phase of doctoral studies. This summary is intended to comprehensively describe four years’ full time work and the individual studies that comprise the doctoral thesis. Many PhD students find this final part challenging and express a need for advice on the writing process.

This digital seminar provides an overview of writing the thesis summary, with an emphasis on the composite thesis. The seminar describes the guidelines from the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University, the various headings that may be included, as well as offering tips on the writing process, examples of thesis summaries, and practical advice how to approach this final phase. There is also ample time for questions and answers about writing the thesis summary. It is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about writing the thesis summary, regardless of research area or faculty.
