On January 1, 2024, a new management will take office at our faculty. The Dean and Deputy Dean shall be elected. They, in turn, appoint vice-deans with specific responsibilities. The Nomination Committee has proposed Maria Björkqvist as Dean and Jonas Larsson as Deputy Dean.

How does it feel to have been nominated?
"We are very honored, and it feels exciting and challenging at the same time".

Why do you fit together as a dean couple?
"We consider it a great strength that we have different experiences from our faculty’s different management organs, the Faculty Management, and the Faculty Board. We have complementary experiences stretching across different aspects of our faculty’s core functions. We bring different perspectives on important tasks ahead, which we consider inspiring and strengthening. We both feel excited about the opportunity to work together, and if we are elected – lead the faculty".

What do you want to achieve?
"We want to work for a strong faculty identity, all employees should feel seen and be proud to be part of our faculty. Our faculty's core activities, education, and research of the highest quality, will be our focus and we want to create a clear research strategy in close collaboration with Region Skåne and our infrastructures".

What’s the first thing you want to do?
"We need to learn and understand the different functions at the faculty so that we can lead our faculty in the best way possible. We understand that the assignment will not be easy and that we must continue the work on achieving a long term sustainable and balanced economy at the faculty".
