Find teaching opportunities

Are you interested in teaching in English at basic or advanced level at the Faculty of Medicine?

Faculty of Medicine has the following international programmes that have English as language of instruction:

  • Biomedicine - Bachelor’s and Master's Programme
  • Public Health - Master’s Programme
  • Medical Science - Master’s Programme
  • The Medical Programme (contains a few activities where English is sufficient, please see below on this webpage).

If you have a teacher employment you will be prioritised when appointing teaching assignments.

Current recruitments

The Bachelor’s programme in Biomedicine is recruiting a course manager for the following course:

Organ Systems and Homeostasis of the Human Body, BIMB40, 15 credits, from spring 2027

BIMB40 is a fourth-semester course in classical physiology focusing on the function of major organ systems, including the circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, digestive, excretion and reproductive systems.

One module/week is dedicated to integration of all homeostatic systems. The course emphasizes integrative physiology, aiming to deepen students’ understanding of how different organ systems interact to maintain the body’s internal equilibrium (homeostasis).

The course also includes:

  • Physiology laboratory work to strengthen students’ experimental understanding of physiological principles
  • Anatomy, histology and experimental animal dissection sessions supporting structural and functional integration
  • Written assignments in which students individually and in groups investigate the key experiments and scientific discoveries underlying current knowledge in a selected area of physiology and subsequently present this in an Infographic. In association to this assignment, they should also write an abstract proposing a novel research direction related to the same topic.

The course uses active learning with strong influence from the TBL concept with iRATs, tRATs and TBL applications, with much interaction between teachers and students. The weekly iRATs are used for knowledge-checks and the course is finalized with a written exam. The portfolio includes the practical work as above, the written assignments and a debate session. “Pass” is the highest possible grade on the course.

We are looking for a course manager from the spring semester 2027, but course planning will commence earlier. As course manager you will have administrative responsibility for the course with opportunities for teaching.

The position as course manager is suitable for an individual (e.g. researcher, associate senior lecturer, senior lecturer, professor) with a broad understanding of all aspects of human physiology and an interest in active learning.

Application of interest

If this sounds like a stimulating opportunity, send a short letter of interest and pedagogic CV (including your affiliation (department), type of employment at LU (e.g. researcher, associate senior lecturer, senior lecturer, professor),  your pedagogical training, prior teaching experience, subject expertise, prior experience with course management and international experiences) to biomed [at] med [dot] lu [dot] se, no later than February 25, 2026 (extended deadline!).

The applications of interests will be evaluated by the programme management and current course management based on 5 criteria. Please clearly address these aspects in your application.

  1. Courses in pedagogics in higher education.
  2. Prior teaching experience at BSc and/or MSc level.
  3. Subject expertise.
  4. Prior experience of course management.
  5. International experiences.

The programme management may contact your vice head of department (GAP) during the recruitment process.

How to apply for positions

The appointment process varies between the programmes. All programmes give priority to you who have a teaching position when recruiting.

In the first instance, you should contact your assistant head of department with responsibility for education at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Below you find specific information from some of our programs. It describes how teaching assignments are appointed to these.

Both the Bachelor and Master programmes in biomedicine have English as language of instruction and admit students from all over the world.

All major teaching assignments (course leader and examiner) are appointed in competition by the programme director after counselling with the chair of the programme board.

If you are interested in becoming a course leader or examiner, you need to keep an eye out for advertisements on the faculty's website as well as information about expression of interest via official emails from the faculty.

All other teaching assignments are appointed by the course leader for the respective course based on competence and experience. If you are interested in teaching in a specific course you should contact the course leader. You find a list of the courses and contact information to the course leader here:

The teaching in the Medical programme is generally in Swedish. However, there are a few instances where English is sufficient:

Semester 1

Project lab – 2-3 students spend 1-2 days at a research lab, and get a general introduction and perform an experiment. They shall also put together a lab report. If you are interested in supervising, please send an email to: T1 [at] med [dot] lu [dot] se (T1[at]med[dot]lu[dot]se)

Semester 3

Analysis of a controversial scientific issue – The students shall put together an analysis in English. If you are interested in assessing such analyses, please send an email to: T3 [at] med [dot] lu [dot] se (T3[at]med[dot]lu[dot]se)

Semester 5 and 10

Scientific project – The students carry out scientific projects of ~7 weeks (semester 5) or one semester (semester 10). You can register a project in our database for scientific projects. Thereby the students can find it when they search for projects.
