Election and Nominating Committee

Within each faculty at Lund University, a nominating committee is elected to prepare proposals for candidates for the positions of dean and deputy dean, as well as for representatives of teaching staff with research expertise, external members and representatives of other staff to the Faculty Board.

Pursuant to a decision by the Faculty Board, the Election and Nominating committee consists of nine members, of whom six representatives of teaching staff with research expertise, and three representatives of other staff. In addition, the students appoint two student representatives to the nominating committee

You can nominate candidates for the following positions:

  • Dean, vice-dean and members of the Faculty Board in the categories of teachers, other staff and external members*, term of office: 2027-2029
  • Teacher representative to the Faculty Board (by-election), term of office: 1 July 2026–31 December 2026
  • Teacher representative to the University Collegium (by-election), term of office: 1 August 2026–28 February 2027

*The Faculty Board includes two external members. You can nominate candidates for these positions. Unlike other candidates, these are not elected, but are appointed by the Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of the Nomination Committee.

 

To be eligible to vote and nominate, you must be employed at least 50 per cent and have a permanent contract or at least two years of continuous employment.

The person you nominate must be employed in the category to which the nomination applies, i.e. as a scientifically or artistically competent teacher, or other staff.

A scientifically or artistically competent teacher is defined as a professor or a person employed as a teacher for which a doctoral degree or equivalent competence is required, i.e.:

  • postdoctoral researcher
  • professor
  • visiting professor
  • adjunct professor
  • appointed professor
  • senior lecturer
  • adjunct senior lecturer
  • assistant senior lecturer

  1. State who you are nominating and for which position. Confirm that the person has been asked and is willing to accept the position.
  2. Write a brief explanation of why the person you are nominating is suitable for the position.
  3. Attach a CV or link to the person's profile in the Research Portal/Lucris.

The dean and vice-dean may have complementary qualities. 

The person should:
  • be decisive and able to anchor decisions in the organisation

  • be structured and clear
Together, they should:

  • have current experience of clinical work/research/teaching.

March–April

The nomination committee conducts interviews with nominated candidates.

May–June

  • Proposed candidates are presented in early May.
  • Elections are held from 25 May to 11 June.
  • Votes are counted on 12 June.
  • The Vice-Chancellor appoints the Dean, Vice-Dean and external members.
