Orpheus - external evaluation
International, external evaluation of doctoral education and quality stamp
By performing an international, external evaluation of doctoral education as a whole, the Faculty of Medicine had the opportunity to obtain advanced feedback on the quality of doctoral education, and to chart possible development areas.
Orpheus, the organisation for PhD Education in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in the European System, performs evaluations according to a set standard in order to ensure the quality of doctoral education. When an evaluation is approved, the higher education institution evaluated receives a quality stamp, the Orpheus label. Karolinska institutet and Copenhagen University are two examples of higher education institutions that have previously undergone the evaluation and been awarded this label.
The evaluation took place in two stages, beginning with a self-evaluation. The next stage of this external evaluation was a site visit and audit performed by Orpheus representatives and a representative of doctoral students.
In 2018/2019 the Faculty focused on implementing this international, external evaluation of doctoral education. Its self-evaluation made the Faculty entitled to the Orpheus Evaluation Certificate.
The Faculty’s doctoral education was judged to be of high quality and after stage two it also received the quality stamp of the Orpheus label.
