Professional development at Lund University (Staff Pages)

The Faculty´s Library & ICT unit offers courses, workshops and webinars on various subjects such as managing and analysing your research data, creating a data management plan, presenting your research in the LU Reserch Portal/LUCRIS, bibliometrics, EndNote, and creating an effective poster for PhDs. All courses are free of charge.

MedCUL is the Faculty of Medicine’s centre for teaching and learning. We cooperate with management, teachers and students for a needs-based and practice-centred support in work on developing study programmes.

We offer the training in higher education teaching methods you need for a post as lecturer, senior lecturer or professor. This also applies to doctoral students and other staff who participate in teaching.

About Library & ICT´s Research Support

We give support to doctoral students, researchers and research administrators in the research process, publishing, and in analysing scientific output in terms of citations (bibliometrics). We give several staff development opportunities free of charge, such as courses, workshops as well as online seminars.

Grants are available for participation in courses, conferences, congresses and the like. Applications for funding must be made in good time before the activity starts, after which an individual assessment is made regarding previous awards to the applicant. Funding cannot be awarded in two successive years. Grants are not awarded to persons who have been admitted to doctoral education or to research projects.

A grant application has to include the purpose, date and content of the planned activity, along with a calculation. The application also has to include a statement of reasons by the applicant and be approved by their head of department or equivalent. Since grants are awarded for up to half of the amount applied for, the application has to be accompanied by a certificate from the head of department stating that the remainder will be financed via the department.

If you are a staff member at Lund University, or a doctoral student or have some other employment in which you teach LU students, you are able to apply for a grant for further training or continuing professional development abroad.

A desire for international mobility can be included in your individual professional development plan. There are good opportunities for staff members to apply for funding for their visits abroad.

International opportunities

The Action plan for teaching and research posts provides a framework for the recruitment and retention of teaching and research staff and for their transition to roles outside the University.
