As of January 1, 2024, the Faculty has a new management. Here, the Dean and Vice Dean introduce their team.

"We are very pleased to now be able to present our management team and we look forward to starting to work together soon. Together, the management team represents large parts of our diverse Faculty and we bring with us different skills and experiences. We feel that we will complement each other well in the work that lies ahead. We are happy and grateful that Thomas, Eva, Niklas, David and Karin want to work with us in the management.

We will have different areas of responsibility, but we will work closely together for the good of our Faculty. Our core business, education and research of the highest quality, will be our focus and we want to create a clear research strategy in close interaction with healthcare and our infrastructures. We will continue the difficult and challenging work of achieving long-term sustainable Faculty finances and we want to work to ensure that all employees feel involved and are proud to be part of our Faculty.

A good work and learning environment, sustainability and ethics are prioritised issues that run through all parts of the Faculty and we will take joint responsibility for this."

This is the Faculty of Medicine's new management:

Maria Björkqvist

Jonas Larsson
Deputy Dean with responsibility for research, infrastructure and recruitment

Thomas Hellmark
Vice-Dean with responsibility for education

"I'm really looking forward to being part of the Faculty's new management and, not least, to be responsible for something that I'm passionate about: helping to make the Faculty's education even better. We are facing an exciting period with significant changes, with demands for savings but also new opportunities with modern teaching facilities and digital tools."

Eva Ageberg
Vice Dean with responsibility for research, career development and external engagement

"An exciting and honorable assignment! I am very much looking forward to working on important issues for the Faculty of Medicine and also to the collaboration in the new Faculty management."

Karin Jirström
Vice-Dean with responsibility for PhD studies and campus development

"I look forward to continuing to work to ensure that we are able to offer a high-quality education for tomorrow's researchers. In addition, campus development will be an important and exciting area to take on."

David Gisselsson Nord
Vice-Dean with responsibility for international affairs and security

"International collaborations are becoming increasingly important for the Faculty, at the same time as they are becoming more challenging in a politically highly polarised world. We must learn to combine international openness with security thinking. Finding a good balance between these extremes will be an exciting task!"

Niklas Nielsen
Vice Dean with responsibility research and health care collaboration

"I was really surprised, but also very honoured, when I was asked to be part of the Faculty of Medicine's management team. It is undeniably with some trepidation and great humility that I approach this assignment, but I also feel that the area I will primarily work with suits me. It will be fun to be involved and continue to strengthen clinical research."

Together, the management team represents large parts of our diverse Faculty and we bring with us different skills and experiences.
