Stem Cell Stars Seminar: Sergiu P. Pasca

Join us for this afternoon seminar featuring Sergiu Pasca, a leading figure in the field of psychiatry and behavioral sciences from Stanford University.
Lund Stem Cell Center is excited to welcome Sergiu P. Pasca, Kenneth T. Norris, Jr. Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University, California, USA at our next Stem Cell Star Seminar.
Talk Title: "Constructing and deconstructing the human nervous system to study development and disease"
When: 23 October, 2024 | 15:00 - 16:00 + mingle
Where: Segerfalksalen, BMC A10
Following the lecture, take the opportunity to mingle and connect with colleagues and fellow researchers over refreshments at our post-seminar gathering. All are welcome, and no registration is required!
About the Speaker:
Sergiu P. Pasca, MD
- Kenneth T. Norris, Jr. Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University
- Bonnie Uytengsu & Family Director, Stanford Brain Organogenesis Program
- CZI Ben Barres Investigator
- CZ Bio-Hub Investigator
- NYSCF Robertson Stem Cell Investigator
Trained as a physician in Romania, Sergiu Pasca came to Stanford in 2009 for postdoctoral training, where he made groundbreaking advancements in the field of neuroscience. His early work involved developing in vitro models of disease by deriving neurons from skin cells of patients with genetic brain disorders. His lab has since pioneered the use of instructive signals to create self-organizing 3D cellular structures known as regionalized neural organoids or spheroids. To further his research on complex cellular interactions in the human brain, his group introduced a modular system to study human neural circuits in structures called assembloids.
