A remake: Hoping for an end to the bicycle chaos in November

Next week, a major renovation of our bicycle parking outside Forum Medicum will begin. More and better bicycle racks, benches and signs will reduce the dangers and make it easier for cyclists and others.

Akademiska Hus, together with its land contractor, will supplement with an additional approximately 120 bicycle parking spaces adjacent to Forum Medicum.

Mariana Johansson is Head of the Property and Security Department at Med-service and is responsible for property-related issues and our outdoor environment:
"The new bike racks will have a new and better design. Part of the grass area in front of the F-building will be used for this project, as well as a number of parking spaces facing Remissgatan, or rather, Biomedicin's entrance road. New plantings will also be established, but not until spring. And then there will be benches around the artwork Vertical Composition, in front of the main entrance, which hopefully prevents people from parking bikes there", she says.

New information signs

Akademiska hus will also work with signage to inform about where the bikes should be parked.
"I have tried to have a dialogue with Lund municipality about electric scooters not being parked in front of the building with the help of no-go zones, but it is not going well”.

Completion in November

The works will start in week 41.
"The establishment of the work area will start in week 41, and also the excavations. According to Akademiska hus, there should be minimal disturbances.”

According to the schedule, most of the works should be completed by the end of November. In the spring, new plantings will follow.

Bicycle-free walking path

"I hope is that everyone will appreciate the addition of bicycle parkings, the new environment and that we will have a bicycle-free pedestrian path. I also hope that you will "discover" that there are many bike racks in the courtyards also available. I ask for your indulgence if you experience disturbances from time to time”.
