2024 has been a peak year for Lund University in terms of the number of articles published in The Conversation. With 55 articles from 50 researchers, we received a whopping 1.6 million views.

The proportion of articles from the Faculty of Medicine has increased significantly in 2024 and they are high in terms of how many readers the articles have. The faculty's eight articles during the year have received an average of about 36,000 views per article.

Christel Nielsen, associate professor of epidemiology, has the most views. Her article on tattoos and cancer risk has had over 160,000 views. The study had a huge international impact after a press release, which means that it is not clear what is due to The Conversation and what is due to other media.

"It was really a pleasure to work with The Conversation. I appreciate both the writing together with the journalist I worked with – it was constructive and time-efficient – and the format itself. There are still many people who get in touch about the study. Since one of the purposes was to give the public tools to make informed decisions about tattooing, this feels particularly important," says Christel Nielsen.
