Shabnam Parveen came to Sweden from India a little over two years ago with her husband and son. She was recommended Jobsprånget from the Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen). In April she started her internship programme in associate professor Ganna Petruk’s research group at the Faculty of Medicine.
“I’ve been working in microbiology so I was very happy to find an internship programme within my research field.”
“A struggle”
“Coming from outside EU I know how hard it is to get into the Swedish society, Ganna Petruk says. I remember it was a struggle when I first came to Italy as Ukrainian citizen!”
Besides doing a good deed, Ganna Petruk was curious to hire someone a bit more skilled and not so young as are students.
“It has been a both way teaching”, she says.
“Open doors”
Shabnam Parveen is now halfway through her four-month internship programme. What does she think the future will bring?
“To me this internship has been very helpful, I have been working in the lab, learned new techniques and earned new experiences. I hope this will open doors for me in the future.”
