Workshop for PhD supervisors: Increasing academic effectiveness
The Faculty of Medicine’s Career Support invites active PhD supervisors at the faculty, both new and experienced, to a half-day workshop on academic productivity and sustainable work methods.
Workshop content
As academics, we spend a lot of time focusing on the content of our work, but sometimes forget to pay attention to the process of how we work. This workshop addresses that gap, offering methods to improve productivity while maintaining well-being. You will be introduced to concepts such as the unit method, the 80/20 principle etc. and explore how these can be applied in your daily work and in the supervisory relationship. Moreover, all participants will receive a copy of the Finish on Time book by Åsa Burman.
Practicalities
- Please note that you need to be an active PhD supervisor at the Faculty of Medicine at the time of the workshop (i.e. currently supervising one or more PhD students).
- Participation is free of charge for the individual supervisor. However, this workshop involves a cost for the faculty. As places are limited participants are expected to cancel their registration as soon as possible if unforeseen circumstances prevent attendance, so that the place can be offered to someone else.
About the workshop leader
Katarina Mårtensson is a much appreciated workshop leader at Finish on Time. She has a PhD in higher education and pedagogical development and is a professor at Lund University. She is an experienced supervisor, editor, and has worked with pedagogical development in higher education for the past 25 years.
