Becoming a Group Leader: Practical Challenges and Beyond
Establishing a research group involves scientific independence, new responsibilities and practical decisions. Join Future Faculty and Career Support for an open conversation about the transition to group leadership, including practical challenges, university procedures, available support and expectations associated with the role.
Future Faculty and Career Support invite researchers, from postdoctoral fellows to established principal investigators, to a seminar on the practical aspects of establishing and leading a research group.
Giulia Saredi, Johannes Cairns and Jacob Vogel will share their experiences of becoming independent researchers and establishing their groups. Lhinn Holmbergh will provide an administrative perspective on university procedures and support available to research group leaders.
The discussion will address priorities when starting a group, changes in responsibilities and aspects of academic leadership that are not always covered in research training. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and share their own experiences.
