EU Horizon Europe - find calls within medicine

On this page we have pinpointed calls within the EU's Horizon Europe framework programme that are particularly interesting for us at the Faculty of Medicine.

Quick links

General information

Horizon Europe is the EU’s framework programme for research and innovation for 2021–2027 with a total budget of close to EUR 95,5 billion. The programme is structured around three priorities: Excellent Science, Global Challenges and European Industrial competitiveness and Innovative Europe. Within these pillars, a variety of calls can be found, where some have general objectives, whereas others have narrower and targeted objectives.

Targeted calls for the Faculty of Medicine

On this page you will find a collection of targeted calls for collaborative projects related to research fields at the Faculty of Medicine, mostly located pillar II Global Challenges. You may coordinate a proposal but you can also participate as partner. Please reach out to you international network to find partners interested in the same topic as you or to join ongoing initiatives.

Support and questions

If you are interested and would like support in taking the next steps, please contact Lund University’s Research Services as early as possible. Research Services provides support throughout the entire process, from application to completed project. You receive guidance on the EU programme’s offerings and help finding suitable calls for proposals. You will receive advice on the consortium, how to match your project to the call, as well as tips and templates for working on the application—both the administrative part and the budget work—and help with parts of the application text.

About the calls

Most opportunities are located in Cluster 1 – Health. This cluster supports research that advances the health and well being of people of all ages by generating new knowledge, developing innovative solutions, and, where relevant, integrating a gender perspective to prevent, diagnose, monitor, treat and cure diseases. The opportunities needs international and collaborative efforts and are expected to contribute to the predefined challenges described in the call topic texts. Researchers working in clinical, biomedical, public health, digital health or translational domains will find most relevant calls here.

Health related research can also be funded through the EU Mission on Cancer, which targets the entire cancer continuum, from prevention and early detection to treatment and quality of life.

In addition, several European Partnerships linked to Horizon Europe offer dedicated funding opportunities for collaborative, multi disciplinary health research.

Open and planned calls:

  • Cluster 1 – Health
  • Mission Cancer
  • Partnership programmes
  • European Innovation Council (Pillar III)
  • Other opportunities in the Horizon Europe scheme
