Forward – Take action toward your goals
After completing the previous steps - Inward and Outward - you likely have a much clearer sense of your direction. Now, it’s time to take actionable steps to get there.
Spread the word
Let people know what you’re aiming for so they can connect you with potential job openings, refer you to others in their network, or remember you when opportunities arise.
Prepare your CV, cover letter and job interview
When you’re ready to apply for a position, you'll need to update or rewrite your CV and compose a tailored cover letter. Be sure to match both documents to the specific job you’re applying for. Think from the employer’s perspective—what are they looking for, what are their needs, and how can you meet them, all while staying authentic?
Recruiters may have differing opinions on the ideal CV format, but certain guidelines always apply: use a clear, structured layout, ensure there are no spelling errors, provide up-to-date contact details, and highlight key achievements or skills early on in your CV.
You should also prepare thoroughly for job interviews. Familiarize yourself with common interview questions, such as:
- Tell us about yourself.
- Why do you want to work for us?
- Tell us about a time when you set and achieved a specific goal.
- Describe a challenging situation and how you handled it.
- Where do you see yourself in five years?
Learn as much as you can about the company or organization and the role before attending the interview.
Behavioral Interviewing and the STAR Technique
Behavioral interviews are commonly used to assess how candidates handle specific situations based on their past experiences. Familiarizing yourself with the STAR technique (Situation, Task, Action, Result) can help you confidently navigate these types of questions.
