Stem Cell Center Talk by Professor Gonçalo Castelo-Branco

Join Lund Stem Cell Center for a special talk by Gonçalo Castelo-Branco, Professor of Glial Cell Biology at Karolinska Institutet. This event takes place in conjunction with the PhD defense of Edoardo Sozzi, supervised by Professor Malin Parmar.
When: Thursday, February 06, 2025 | 16:00–17:00
Where: Segergfalksalen, BMC A10
Talk Title: 'TBA'
Speaker: Gonçalo Castelo-Branco, Professor of Glial Cell Biology at Karolinska Institutet | Distinguished Professor of the Swedish Research Council within Medicine and Health Wallenberg Scholar | Deputy Head and Chair of the Senate of the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics | Member of the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet
Professor Gonçalo Castelo-Branco and his research group are exploring the molecular mechanisms defining the epigenetic state of oligodendrocyte lineage cells. They are particularly focused on how interplay between transcription factors, non-coding RNAs and chromatin modifying enzymes contributes to the transition between epigenetic states in oligodendrocyte precursor cells, and could thereby lead to targeted therapies for illnesses such as multiple sclerosis. To implement this scientific approach, they apply state-of-the-art technologies, including single-cell and spatial transcriptomics and epigenomics, and CRISPR-based screens, in rodent models of disease and human patient material.
Join this exciting opportunity to meet Professor Gonçalo Castelo-Branco's and learn about his neuroscience research.
