Researcher workshop: Navigating perfectionism, imposter syndrome, and productivity in Academia

This one-day workshop invites you to take a step back and reassess researcher pressures. Registration closes May 14, 2025 at 11:59 PM.

As researchers, we hold ourselves to incredibly high standards—driven by a desire to excel, to contribute meaningfully, and to maintain our competitive edge. Yet, perfectionism and imposter syndrome can quietly erode our confidence, cloud our achievements, and take a toll on our well-being. At the same time, the relentless pursuit of productivity can leave us feeling stretched thin, disconnected from our work, and at risk of burnout.

Reframing inner dialogue

This one-day workshop invites you to take a step back and reassess these pressures. Together, we will explore how perfectionism and imposter syndrome impact our performance and mindset, and learn practical strategies to reframe our inner dialogue. We will also rethink our approach to productivity—shifting from working harder to working smarter, creating sustainable habits that support both success and well-being.

Join us for an engaging, reflective, and empowering discussion on how to navigate these challenges and thrive in academia.

Workshop leader: Desiree Dickerson, PhD. As a former postdoctoral researcher in the neurosciences and a clinical psychologist, Desiree has worked at both ends of the spectrum - from (lab) bench to bedside. After working in research in New Zealand, Australia, and Austria, she now lives in Spain and helps academic institutions worldwide and academics themselves pursue a healthier approach to research.

The number of participants is limited. Make sure to reserve your spot today.
