Lund University, together with the University of São Paulo (USP), has begun planning a joint research symposium to be held in São Paulo during the spring semester of 2027. As part of this, 3–4 parallel workshops are planned over three days, with the aim of developing new research collaborations, for example in the form of research projects, mobility and fieldwork.
Interdisciplinary approach
The aim is for each workshop to include a mix of early-career and senior researchers, as well as doctoral students. Each workshop is also expected to have an interdisciplinary approach and focus on subject areas that are mutually relevant to both Sweden and Brazil. FAPESP’s seven strategic research areas (see blue box) may be used as guidance, but this is not a requirement. Each workshop must be led by two researchers, one from Lund University and one from the University of São Paulo. Beyond this, it is up to the researchers to define the content.
A maximum of four workshops will be held. The selection will be made together with the University of São Paulo, based on shared priorities and the University of São Paulo’s ability to match Lund University’s proposals.
Funding
Travel grants will be available for researchers and doctoral students participating in approved workshops.
