Report from the Faculty Board meeting (4 June 2025)

The Board of the Faculty of Medicine (MFS) has held a meeting.

The meeting began with the dean informing about what is happening with grants from NIH and how we follow the developments in this area. She also talked about new initiatives based on the research bill, such as new Strong Research Areas, clusters of excellence, centres of excellence, the Swedish Research Council’s initiative for associate senior lecturers, Lund university’s initiative for associate senior lecturers and Lund university’s initiative for visiting professors. Head of Finance Marie Creutzer then gave an update on the conditions for the allocation of resources in 2026 and vice dean Eva Ageberg spoke about the faculty's gender equality statistics and career support. Vice dean Karin Jirström then presented the final report from the inquiry into our premises and use of premises together with Marie Creutzer.

Decisions

Decisions at the meeting concerned further allocation of received interest funds for 2023-2024 and proposals to establish the Center for Infrastructure in Health and Life Sciences (CRI), including the chairman and members of the board of CRI. Other matters concerned the appointment of members and chairman of the decision-making council for the Thorsten and Elsa Segerfalk Foundation for the Promotion of Medical Scientific Research and Education, the advertising of two positions as associate senior lecturer with a focus on the Swedish Research Council's upcoming excellence initiative for young researchers, advertising of three positions as senior lecturer in medical research (one of which combined with a position as a specialist physician/senior consultant), advertising of a position as Senior Lecturer in neurology, one application for promotion to professor of hematology, one application for promotion to professor of medical research with specialisation in molecular neuroanatomy, and one application for promotion to professor of cancer genomics.
