Report from the Faculty Board meeting (22 April 2026)

The Board of the Faculty of Medicine (MFS) has held a meeting.

The meeting began with the dean informing about the national dean's meeting in Umeå and the issues that were discussed there, she informed about the process for professorial appointments to achieve gender equality and the consequences this has for these appointments. She also talked about the ongoing work on empty premises, such as negotiations on the Medicon Village agreement and the CRC agreement, more updates will come in the autumn. Vice-Dean Jonas Larsson then informed about Wallenberg's new investment in clinical research, which will mean that the WCMM programme will be extended for another 10 years and investments will be made in new research projects. Region Skåne's Head of Research Jesper Petersson then presented Region Skåne's yearly accounts for research in 2025.

Decisions

Decisions at the meeting concerned the appointment of teacher representatives in the Doctoral Education Board (FUN), the plan for pedagogical qualifications and career paths at the Faculty of Medicine, the allocation of received interest funds for the Center for Clinical Research and the invitation of Daniel Fenyö to a position as Professor of Computational Biology with a focus on precision medicine.
