The meeting began with the dean talking about ongoing work on a new strategic platform and the new quality policy for the university. She shared that we have now established a Precision Medicine Centre South together with Region Skåne. Olle Melander has been appointed director and Sophia Zackrisson appointed deputy director for the centre.
The Board then received information about work, investigations and assignments that are ongoing at the faculty (report dates in brackets):
- A unified organisation for research infrastructures (240930)
- Investigation of the distribution of ALF project funds (250331)
- Dimensioning of the faculty's premises (250515)
- Organisation for contract education after the discontinuation of LUCE (LU's contract education) (241130)
- The Board of Directors of Med-service and CCM will cease to exist at the end of the year
- Review of library operations (241209)
- Review of the faculty's career support
- Assignment to ILM and IKVL to prepare for relocation from the Tornblad Institute (early 2025)
- Business continuity planning (ongoing)
The dean also informed about work that is underway to develop a strategy for the faculty for 2025 and beyond, which will replace the strategic plan that expires at the end of the year. Information in December at MFS with a planned decision in February.
Head of Finance Marie Creutzer then informed about the budget conditions for 2025 ahead of the budget work and the budget decision in November.
Decisions
Decisions at the meeting concerned proposals for structural changes in the Faculty of Medicine's animal house activities and updated guidelines for the Birgit Rausing Centre for Medical Humanities (BRCMH). In addition the following were up for decision: the application for advertising a position as professor of surgery combined with employment as a specialist physician/senior consultant, a request to convert a senior lecturer into a senior lecturer in clinical neuroscience combined with employment as a specialist physician, an application for advertising a position as a senior lecturer in clinical medicine, for the needs of the education, combined with employment as a specialist physician/senior physician in Helsingborg, and an application for advertising a position as a professor of geriatrics combined with employment as a specialist physician/senior consultant. A decision was also made about an appeal against the university's decision to reject an application for promotion to senior lecturer in neurophysiology.
