Tanmaja Rasal is from India and completed her postgraduate studies in the US. She describes her first encounter with Sweden and the Swedish people as a culture shock.
"I found people to be very reserved. I wondered if I’d said or done something wrong. I was just trying to be friendly."
Her supervisor, Médea Padra, has supported her by introducing Tanmaja Rasal to other researchers and involving her in the university’s activities.
“I helped her settle in. Since then, she’s been working independently and has done a great job. We’ve had good communication and she’s been easy to talk to right from day one in the lab,” says Médea Padra.
Tanmaja Rasal is happy with her work placement.
“As well as my work in the lab, I’ve met senior researchers, attended lectures and taken part in conferences. I hope this will help me find a job and advance my career,” she says.
