Important IT updates: Windows 10, strong authentication and Office package

Lund university information on important IT updates that may affect your job.

  • Microsoft’s support for Windows 10 will cease on 14 October 2025. After that date, the operative system will no longer receive security updates, which means increased risks for computers still using Windows 10.
     
  • Changes in the Office package for University associates. As of Tuesday 2 September, Microsoft will begin to remove the option to use the Office package apps on the desktop for a certain type of licence. Regarding Lund University, this applies to University associates without email authorisation who use the University’s Microsoft 365 service (employees of Lund University are not affected).
     
  • As of 15 September, strong authentication will be needed to use services such as: Primula, Proceedo/Kommers, Kompetensportalen, PaperCut, Kuben and many more.
