Do you want to support a colleague by pre-reviewing VR applications?

At the faculty, we organise an annual support programme for researchers who apply for grants from the Swedish Research Council (VR). But the interest in the support program is greater than the number of available places and we have a waiting list of people who want to be accepted. You now have an opportunity to sign up to our pool of pre-reviewers who can support this year's applicants.

As part of the support programme, we offer participants the opportunity to have their applications pre-reviewed by a more senior researcher at the faculty who has experience of being on the VR review panels or has similar experience. As a pre-reviewer, you will be given a few weeks for the review and then you will give your feedback to the participant well in advance of the VR deadline. In addition to helping a colleague, you will also receive approximately SEK 2000 per application paid to your research cost center.

To sign up to being a pre-reviewer, or if you have any questions, contact the Career Centre at the Faculty of Medicine: susanne [dot] sundell [at] med [dot] lu [dot] se (susanne[dot]sundell[at]med[dot]lu[dot]se)

Facts about the programme

The VR support programme is an annual support programme for researchers applying for project grants, starting grants, grants for half-time researchers in clinical environments and grants for international postdocs from the Swedish Research Council (VR).

What does it mean to be a pre-reviewer?

You will help participants in the program to pre-review their VR applications. As a pre-reviewer, you will as far as possible be matched with respect to the subject area, but the individual feedback to the participants should mainly focus on form, structure/logic, reader-friendliness and comprehensibility. You will be given a few weeks for the preview and then you will give your feedback to the participant 2-3 weeks before VR's deadlines.

What qualifications do I need to have as a pre-reviewer?

To be eligible as a pre-reviewer, you must have experience of being a reviewer in one of the official VR panels, or have similar experience. You must also be able to meet the deadlines set out on our website.

Do I get paid?

We will reimburse your research cost center with approximately SEK 2000 per application.
